You couldn't make it up dept. no.16: with heartfelt apologies to [profile] bufo

From the Italian newspaper La Repubblica

ELBLAG (POLAND) - A quite unusual promotional campaign. One hour's worth of free sex in a neighbouring brothel is the prize offered by a large builder's merchant store in Elblag, a town in northern Poland, for regular customers, every time they spend at least 10 thousand zloty (2.500 euros). So reports the newspaper Zycie Warszawy. The store owner, Roman Myszko, told the newspaper that thus far almost nobody has claimed the prize.
Legal experts interviewed by the newspaper claim that, whether or not anyone took up the offer, Myszko is in danger of a charge of pimping. He, however, sees nothing indecent about his idea. "Business has been going from bad to worse for the last three years," the salesman explained, "so I am trying several new promotional techniques." Long before this new idea, he had offered a free beer from another neighbouring shop to anyone spending at least 100 zloty (25 euros).

Holy mackerel!

If he couldn't give away beer, how does he figure he'll be able to give away broth?!

Hmm. I disapprove. I can't help it.

Sometimes vulgar is funny. This one made me laugh, like JKR's occasional toilet humour.

It's just another example of Outsourcing

I've met enough salesmen to know that he's never going to make it in sales. The only way to make your customers know how much you value their business is with the personal touch.

He is the wrong sex for that (this is the building trade, remember) and we are not told about his age and looks either.

If anything, he's enterprising.

Bah. It's only half of the story.
The same man in his company collects small change (really small) for a hellicopter for father Rydzyk. He alredy collected more than 10 kg, which is worth something :)
Now, this Rydzyk is the man I had in mind, whe I offered to give the examples of catholic loonies and radicals. He's constantly about the immorality and degrengolade of Poland, brought by liberals, Eur. Union, homos and (sotto voce, so he can't get sued) Jews.

Go figure.

But one must say that the company owner made a great movement, bussiness-wise. He got free advertisement in every major Polish newspaper and web-portal. And obviously some international, too :)

Oh, and incidentally you posted a link to an interesting journal, which informs its readers - except other fascinating things - that daily you inhale 1 litre of other people anal gases :)

The wirdest thing is: the other guy is also a HP fan.

[identity profile] fpb.livejournal.com 2005-09-14 07:22 am (UTC)(link)
Except so far his ideas don't seem to work.

[identity profile] fpb.livejournal.com 2005-09-14 07:54 am (UTC)(link)
Good heavens. What exactly are you speaking of?

[identity profile] fpb.livejournal.com 2005-09-14 07:54 am (UTC)(link)
Oh. If I had been aware of the political features of the case, the man would have ended up not under "you couldn't make it up", but under "villains of the world".

Unfortunately I have a worse example from my own country. See my next post, http://www.livejournal.com/users/fpb/130813.html?mode=reply.

[identity profile] bufo-viridis.livejournal.com 2005-09-14 01:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Nay, there are no political features.
It's just funny that the same guy offers (indirectly) prostitute's services and at the same time collects small change for a man, who would like to brandish prostitutes with hot iron (metaphoricaly, but only barely metaphorically speaking).

[identity profile] bufo-viridis.livejournal.com 2005-09-14 02:05 pm (UTC)(link)
In the header you link to certain Bufo's journal, which under July 23rd entry publish such, quite funny but lavatorian nevertheless, bits of knowledge.

But I know you meant my L-J, so the message got through :)

And fear not: I won't get offended by any nonsense Poles are able to create. One gets used to it, rather fast - the option (lunacy) is not realy viable :D
