...can be a very strange thing. I just caught up with an Italian story I had originally missed. Three years ago, thug supporters from two rival football teams (Italian "fans" have been degenerating, year after year, to the point where now there is little to separate the harder groups from terrorists) had a punch-up before a game. The away supporters (from Bergamo) then realized they were missing a motorbike. The vehicle reappeared in the upper reaches of the stadium when the whistle blew for the end of the game; it was kicked to bits by the home "fans", then set on fire and thrown down the steps, where it narrowly missed a number of exiting fans. This is rather disguisting, but also surreal; and one wonders how, in God's name, the thugs ever managed to get a motorbike - even a small one - through a stadium turnstile without the security men and the police noticing. Just weird.
