All right. There is a conservative internet journalist called Debbie Schlussel, who sees Jodie Foster's extremely stupid recent movie FLIGHT PLAN and is outraged. She writes an article for the conservative internet publication FRONT PAGE MAGAZINE to say how much and why she is outraged. All well and good.
Now Front Page Magazine allows a blog-like thread of responses to their articles, and many of these responses are lengthy and opinionated. But when I got to this one, http://www.frontpagemag.com/GoPostal/commentdetail.asp?ID=19595&commentID=604233, I was at first wholly dazed. Read it; it makes no sense.
My point is: we have fallen into a bad habit of questioning the honesty or the sanity of our opponents in any debate. But this is what insanity - the real, clinical stuff - looks like: unreason, disconnection, the cultivation of fixed ideas with no relationship with reality. Read this post; make a study of it. And do not use the word "insane" again unless you seriously think you can detect the symptoms of a diseased mind, as is all too easily detected in this man's post.
