I like all of you. I admire and respect many of you. For some of you I have even higher respect. But if I were to single out one person on my f-list for whom my love and admiration are highest, I would place
kikei. I do not know how much of her personal story I am allowed to set out on public view, but let me say that if I told all I know about her, you would not believe it. You would not believe what she had to overcome in order to achieve a place in an Australian university; nor what she managed to achieve while there; nor what she promises to achieve now; nor against what odds - both of birth and of personal health; nor how badly she is being treated, in spite of her immense promise, warm and sensitive personality, deep honesty, concern for others, and virtually infinite capacity for hard work. I can only say this: there are only two people in the world who could be prouder of her than I am - her father, and her mother.
I have to say this now: she is being let down by an academic environment which apparently made her promises that they have no intention of keeping. She and her family have made huge sacrifices to get where she is now, and she deserves much better than what she is getting. I want everyone who cares for anything decent at all to write to her and give her every kind of moral support. She deserves it. It is a good cause. Her journal is friends-only, so those of you who cannot access it can send her an e-mail at yumemiru_sakiyuki at [@] yahoo.com. (No, she is not Japanese, she just likes to play at disguises.) The address is slightly modified to avoid the attentions of robots; turn it back into the usual shape.
Do it. She deserves anything that anyone can do for her.
