- I just had a look at the Amazon reviews of the Dinotopia mini-series. I don't think there can be much debate about it: the series looks gorgeous - consistently glorious settings aided by top-class photography - and so do the actors, but the story is beyond terrible and ruins everyone's effort. The characters are so badly motivated that it is not a surprise when the younger actors forget to act. In short, this is a complete disaster and a waste of beautiful settings and actors.
What surprised me is to find an avalanche of positive reviews - and not just positive, but enthusiastic. I cannot believe that so many people could get excited about a story, so to call it, whose core simply delivers nothing to get excited about. And so, I wonder whether studios employ people to fill the pages of places like Amazon with undeservedly favourable reviews.
