First England manages a draw against the mighty India in the opening stages of the world limited-overs cricket championship, in India mind you. That is like drawing a match with Brazil in soccer.

Then they lose humiliatingly against Ireland, whose top scorer is not even a professional player. This is like being beaten by the Faroer Islands.

It's a funny old world, all right. But right now not many cricket fans in England are laughing. So few, in fact, that we can hear the thunder of the laughter coming from right over the Irish Sea.
