An amazing piece of writing
Mar. 5th, 2012 07:56 amAs a human being, I would cross the road to avoid
inverarity. But as a writer, he bloody takes your breath away. He just pulled - unnoticed by anyone except yours truly - one of the most fantastic feats of sleight of hand in the history of literature - NO exaggeration! - hiding a fact in plain sight and not letting the readers see it till he was good and ready to blast it to centre stage under our astonished eyes. Agatha Christie at her best couldn't have misled her readers better. I was the only one who noticed half of it months ago, and guessed the rest later - although I had no evidence for that "rest" and so kept it to myself - and even so, this was more than a year after the so-and-so loaded the bomb and put it in place. In plain sight, I repeat. With all the facts in the readers' possession. What an unbelievable feat of writing.
