Now it so happens that the Italian state does not recognize the Scientologists as a religious body, does not have a concordat with them and certainly does not recognize their marriage rituals. Hence the couple will not be marrying, legally, at all - which makes the delighted and subservient support of the mayor of Bracciano even more heinous. As for Kate Holmes, God help her when Cruise decides he is over her - or has no more need for her - and tells his lawyers to tell her that their marriage never took place and that she does not have a chance in Hell of proving otherwise in any court. Considering that America is one of the few countries that does recognize Scientology as a religion, why on Earth did Cruise have to go to Italy to wed?
