What I worry about is the modern equivalent of Italian Fascism, where everything noble and important had been done by Italians, and the word Italian was a word of praise in and of itself. I see that in the BJP and the whole Hindutva movement - which is by no means restricted to them - and it worries me. And you tell me that China is also growing frighteningly nationalistic. A Polish colleague of yours, Joanna Jurewicz, has made an enormously important discovery in the field of early Indian religion - she has proved that the belief in reincarnation can be found in the Vedas.
