I find it more horrifying because I can't tell myself that the folks who support it are just lying to themselves.
I know how powerful lying to yourself can be, and how easy it can be to make yourself believe something that's easy just because you don't have anything obvious to counter-act it-- like believing that a fetus isn't a human, just because it doesn't look like an adult human.
For partial birth, it's blindingly obvious that the baby is a human, and a baby. You CAN'T lie to yourself on that one. So I have to accept that there are people in my culture-- some of them are could-be friends!-- who are alright with killing a child to make life easier.
