I never said that it WAS a Waterloo; I said that it was PERCEIVED as a Waterloo BY THE LOSING SIDE. In fact, that was the core of my argument: that in a little more than a year, the Democrats passed from the fear of permanent diminishment to a wholly unexpected triumph.
