According to an Italian newspaper, American and Iraqi forces have identified an Iraqi doctor, head of a hospital for mental illness, as the man who supplied the terrorists with two Down's Syndrome victims who were then sent into the crowd at a pet market in Baghdad a week or so ago. Apparently this man gained his job because his predecessor, whose deputy he used to be, had refused to allow the terrorists to use his patients as human bombs, and had been murdered in consequence.

And there are those who say we ought to negotiate with these creatures.

God has taken the victims into Heaven, cleared their sight, straightened their senses, and led them to everlasting life. They are where there is no pain any more, no sorrow and no sighing. And if there is any justice, those who abused them are just as surely bound for the deepest pits of Hell.

I cannot even say how this news makes me feel. I want to scream, I want to yell loud enough to be heard across the world. I want to howl that rather than have peace with such creatures, let there be war for a thousand years, war till the end of time; that to even begin to let them live is to consent to the horror that they are, and that I for one will never, never, never consent to it. We owe it to our common humanity to hunt them down and lock them up like diseased animals.

When I was reading up on Nazism, one of the things that continually surprised me was how, no matter how depraved, dishonest, and sick the Nazis seemed to me, I would find out some additional thing they had done -- such as murdering a loyal Nazi officer's wife who boarded a Death Train by mistake, or such as gassing mental patients, or such as Hitler chiding members of his party for being unwilling to strong-arm, kidnap or kill other Nazis who stood in the way of their ambitions -- who seemed even worse. Each level of Hell, when you thought you struck bottom, opened up under foot to reveal a deeper abyss yet.

Well, I get the same sensation looking at the Jihadists.

Perhaps that is what CS Lewis meant when he said that "God in His mercy made the fixed pains of Hell"; that left to itself, human evil would never find an end. But as for us, let us follow the words of another great English writer: "Do your worst, and we shall do our best."

These "Creatures"? That is strong language. If every paedophile/serial killer in America were to be taken as the token American personality, then it would be just as easy to call the Americans "Creatures". What about the Iraqi doctor who was killed because he tried to protect his patients?

Perhaps you imagine that I am saying that we are at war with the Iraqi doctor. I cannot see why. It should have been clear that I was speaking about his murderers (among their other crimes). Please read what I write.

The news of these creatures (you have my support with that word-this calls for strong language) using people with Down's Syndrome was horrible. When I hear things like this, I can only tearfully respond with "How long, Oh Lord?"

My heart just rips at the thought of any disabled person being tortured so cruelly...I don't know if you are aware, but I have spent years (17) working with special needs populations, and have two special kids of my own: my boy has pdd/nos (autism), and my girl has a mild speech/language disorder. How can you forgive this action? How do you negotiate with souless creatures? God bless the doctor who was killed for protecting his patients; no, we are not at war with him or with the Iraqi citizens who find such conduct intolerable.

If I were an atheist, the thought would never cease to torment me that no proper, due, and proportionate justice would ever visit the killers who can imagine and do such horrid acts. Human beings do not have the power to visit endless pain on human beings, or, in this case on ex-human beings.
