I am only on the tenth chapter of the first of two chaptered fics by one Ilex, featuring one Anastasia Twigg-Jones, and I already know that, failing colossal flaws somewhere, this is going to enter the roster of favourites. Anastasia Twigg-Jones, Professor of Defence against the Dark Arts, lover of Severus Snape, friend of the Marauders, Lily Evans and Frank and Alice Longbottom, friend and mentor of Harry Potter, has every feature of the most abandoned Mary Sue - and is an absolute screaming delight, childish, charming and hilarious. Recommended.

I'll have to make time to go read it! But I do believe that some Mary Sues can be very appealing--this one sounds fabulous :-)

I read and enjoyed the first fic-- will try to make time for the second when finals are over.

Actually, I thought the author went over the top when Anna turned out to own both a townhouse in Harley Street and a country mansion. (You have been in this country long enough to know what that makes her.) I suppose there is no reason why a charming witch should not also belong to the upper classes, but in her case it does come across as an embarrassment of riches. Plus, speaking as a bloke - too much shopping and entirely too many parties. Nonetheless, it does not have the lifeless quality of the usual Mary Sue fic.

It was fun. Now, I did skim a lot of the shopping scenes, but I liked the parties (especially that improbable combination of characters at New Year's Eve, which I suspect not being a true HP fan helped me to take in stride).
