Is it a flat percentage, though, or does it vary on some merchandise? I was under the impression that some things had higher tax than others, and you couldn't really tell which.
What gets taxed varies by state--restaurant food is taxed here, but not grocery store food, for example--but if something is taxable, you know it's going to be 6% and can figure it accordingly.
