Incidentally, Sarah Palin became Governor in opposition to the previous incumbent. The fact that she did not fire his political appointees, such as Monegan, on the spot, but tried to work at least with him until he proved downright untreatable and mutinous, shows that the woman is pragmatic, willing to work with political opponents, and unwilling to bring about disorder in a fundamental state service such as the police unless absolutely necessary. Now, of course, the Democrats will be blaming her for not sticking to her principles...
