I think you basically made the correct decision in that regard. Also, simply as a matter of internal story logic -- Dumbledore must have known of Cathy's less shining moments as well (and it seems to me that they are hinted at, even if perhaps the hint could have been a little stronger), but in this situation I don't see that he would have a reason to tell Harry about them.
