having just sat through the movie again, I found that there were a few mistakes in this review. This was something I had been carrying at the back of my mind for a very long time, both the good and the bad - in fact, I said less of the bad bits of the film than I had intended - and I did not remember each episode exactly. The escape of the cavalry column from Newton Center, in particular, is more complicated than I described it, and I got one episode or two wrong. But I don't think that's very important. If I had to publish this somewhere professional, I would write in a few corrections, but I am still convinced of my basic thesis.
