Richard Dawkins...

...shows the nobility of his character and the excellence of his mind. And people are surprised.

As I said in a number of places: a man whom you have idolized for his insulting, arrogant, insensitive, ignorant, threatening behaviour to those who disagreed with him — turned out to be insulting, arrogant, insensitive, ignorant and threatening towards someone who disagreed with him. And you are surprised.

Gee whiz. The logic of science.

Or, as I always say: we Catholics are charter members of the Laugh Last And Laugh Best Club. But you mean you hadn't heard? It's been going on for days. In fact, I was thinking of not posting because I thought the news was old.

I had heard. My respect, such as it is, for the orcs defending what was once the grand and terrifying towers of Mordor which once I defended causes me to avert my eyes in pity.

It is the end result of a philosophy of life where emotion rather than reason win arguments. Whomever is more easily offended, whomever has the deepest umbrage and whines the loudest is considered the winner.

And (I speak from personal experience and knowledge) the poor empty atheists think of us, the heirs of St. Thomas and the schoolmen, the heirs of whatever was worthy in pagan philosophy, to be the illogical ones.
