Actually, there have been similar issues in Rome with legionary impersonators. But when you see Captain America and Spider-man ganging up on each other and calling each other thief and scoundrel, you can't help feeling that the point is being missed a tiny bit.

I remember that very well. I think we reviewers were stumped, because there seemed to be nothing to interpret - but it was fun.

I'm aghast at the notion of interpreting Destroy!!

I'm tempted to refer you to Susan Sontag's Against Interpretation, but I would be a pretentious ass to do so, since I've never read it.
