If I have been somewhat severe with your position, I think I should rectify that right now. I am very grateful for your attitude. I do not like to touch the subject of homosexuality - except in highly romantic fanfics - because people are so strident and defensive about it. I had an especially nasty experience with this in Harry Potter fandom. Therefore, when I published this entry, I expected nothing but bad from it. I hit the update journal button almost literally with gritted teeth. There are a few people in fandom who scour my LJ for things to be shocked at and to insult me about, who take delight in misrepresenting me and downright lying about me, and who do their best, in such places as Fandom wank, which I never visit, to spread their hate of me; and the whole thing began with a story about gays which some moron decided to be offended by. Maybe in a future post I will tell the story as I see it, though to be honest I am currently working on a few things I enjoy rather more.
Mine is not the only such experience, obviously. In my f-list, you might ask Thepreciouss and Rubix, who have had some experience of PC pressure and unpleasantness. It is something that almost goes with the territory if you have the nerve to take a Christian standpoint in these matters. Though I have to say, having just come into contact with the tremendous personality of Alexander Solghenitsin, that I wonder why a few insults and e-mailed threats should bother me so much when compared with what the likes of him had to face. I guess it is just that nobody likes being hated.
