TODAY IS THE BIRTHDAY...

...of two outstanding people, Lazy Neutrino and Kikei. Both (though I have criticized a Niffled fic of LN's in the past) are brilliant writers, and both are amazingly nice people. June 19 must be a well-omened day. I hope they both have wonderful parties and much joy.

Ah, well, I guess that restores the balance with Kikei's and LN's. Two sweet and talented people, one... well... not so much. I hope you had a pleasant day anyway. (What did you buy her, anyway?)

I ended up buying her the stupid rubber thongs and lipgloss. I'd intended on getting her decent perfume (it being her eighteenth, and a very vague attempt at extending the olive branch), but my credit card maxed that very second, so I was left getting her the cheaper option. Later that night, when I was screeched at for thinking of eating, I realised I was probably best off buying her what I did.

Nonetheless, aside from today's little furore, it has been quite pleasant, with Dodgeball, cheap spumante and good lemon meringue pie. Tis also the time of year to count down to my birthday (next Sunday), and rue the persistent phone calls of 'omgwatdoyouwant' with me to respond 'I dunno, love, I suppose'.

Somehow, I have a feeling that from Gold Coast to London it might fail to carry. Anyway, I don't believe that there are awful voices, only decent voices in need of training. Natural beauty is another matter, of course, but you might be in the league of Louis Armstrong and Bob Dylan, awful voice and all.

Which is weird, seeing as I was really into singing in my childhood and was a performer at my church every weekend from ages 10-12. I think the ability to sing well kinda atrophies with time and disuse, like playing the piano.

Mine was actually yesterday (18th) but the sentiments are valued just as much whichever day they fall on. And, yes, you may have criticised a fic of mine, but you did it politely and constructively and that is as valuable as gold dust to me.
