Oh,yeah, as well: in fighting the Teutonic Knights, and even granting that the Knights were not nice people, Alexander fought as a vassal of the Tartars, who were just then becoming converted to Islam. In effect, he was part of the Muslim war effort against Catholic Europe. The complexities of the matter are such that nobody can quite disentangle right and wrong in this particular conflict, but at least, Alexander deserves neither the title of Orthodox Saint granted him after the fact, nor that of military champion of free Russia that Eisenstein and Prokoviev granted him.
