Problems of communication

I have not taken much part in the rabid stream of discussion and rage that followed the canonization of certain fics in HBP. But I have enjoyed it. Now I am face with the problem of explaining to people outside the fandom - my mother, for instance - the events that have so involved and amused me and many of my friends for days.

I have just come up with the perfect opening line for the explanation.

"Dear Mum,
The Internet has given scope to kinds of insanity that were not even imagined before it was invented..."
