I guess the fuss is that Reese Wotherspoon, big class-a rising star, has been exposed as impecunious or cheap enough to wear a second-hand frock. Ouch! And meow!
Mind you, something even worse happened here in Britain in my lifetime. The Queen and Margaret Thatcher, who did not like each other, turned up at some function or other with almost identical blue dresses. Shortly later, the Prime Minister's office sent along a suggestion that perhaps Her Majesty might inform them in advance of what she intended to wear on similar occasions, to avoid clashes. Back came the haughty reply: "Her Majesty does not mind what other guests wear."
