Sometimes linguistic knowledge is a burden

Someone I no longer speaks to had some work translated into Italian. I checked, and almost the first thing I saw was a major howler. Now either I write to point it out, which would not be taken well, or sit on it, which would probably be taken as vindictive. Besides, if there is one howler there, Heaven only knows how many more are waiting - and then that becomes work (and I ought to charge for it!).

Perhaps said person might be prepared to gently overlook translation howlers to avoid hurt feelings and because it doesn't necessarily reflect badly on him/her. No vindictiveness at all involved on your part.
