1917 by David Olney is one of the greatest songs ever written - and I am not, repeat not, exaggerating. I am so enthusiastic about it that I want to share it with anyone who asks. If I do not already have your e-mail address, send it to me (you may create one for the purpose) and I will send you David Olney's original account and Emmylou Harris and Linda Rondstadt's exquisite account via Yousendit. I just think it is a pity that most songs of that level - Old Man River, Schubert's Singing over the Waters, Blowin' in the wind, and so on - should be universally famous, and this masterpiece should be almost unknown.
