...is that they regularly run out of space. I visited the one at [community profile] legomymalfoy's this morning and I could not believe that I was not able to register my high opinion of [profile] manraviel (one of the first fans I ever met who came across as a full-scale human being), the classy and thoughtful [personal profile] carlanime, [personal profile] ani_bester (one of the few people for whom the expression "nobility of soul" comes effortlessly), [profile] ac1d6urn (for the Crookshanks fics), [profile] angua9 (writes essays like I would like to think I would do if I were intelligent>, [personal profile] kennahijja (I think all her opinions are screwed up and near to criminal, but I'll fight anyone who does not admit that she is a writer of genius), [profile] caladan_dd (talent in human form). That, of course, is only about those who actually turned up on [community profile] legomymalfoy's meme. The rest of you, look at my f-page's name: "Thank God for the following people."

Crookshanks fics? Any chance of a link? (I had a quick look at the journal in question and the associated fic journal but couldn't find them.)

I now add a note to state that she seems to have taken them down. I can't imagine why; I thought they were excellent.

Oh my goodness thank you. 0.o
That . . that is just amazingly flattering that I could ever come off like that (not to put myself down or be falsely modest here. I attribute a number of positive qualities to myself but still to see that, wow).

I don't know acidburn for her fanfic, but rather for her amazing art. I think she has shown moments of far above avarage inspiration.

And that's only too true!

Ah! I was going to reccomend [livejournal.com profile] nasubionna to you but I see you already watch her. I've always found her art to be refreshingly different, and after meeting her in person, she's a lady of real intelligence and morals I wish I had!

Actualy let me also reccomend [livejournal.com profile] mnem_art. Granted I'm biased toward her particular style, but I just can't get over the amount of creativity and talent she shows in her work!

Well, you've got an entry in there somewhere, so I should try and find out if I were you. Otherwise you might never know - who loves ya, baby?

(Never mind. I've had a sleepless night and I'm not at the peak of rationality just now.)

Honey pie, you may consider all my remarks withdrawn. And if you have the cheek to ask for a reason, I will reply with the Italian proverb - Dimmi con chi vai, e ti diro' chi sei.

Kind of randomly trolling on through...

Hey,

I was reading some place else that you knew a bit of the pre-Internet comic book fan fiction history. Given that, I was hoping you could possibly look over and correct any of the misinformation/lack of infromation on pages for my Fan Fiction History Wiki (http://www.fanhistory.com/), especially the comic books related pages. My own knowledge is just a bit thin for that fandom. :/ Anyway, any help you can provide would be appreciated. If you have any questions, I'm on AIM at h2oequalswater and reachable by e-mail. :)

Well, I have been involved in comics for quite a while, but my views have no more authority than those of any other one of hundreds of thousands of fans. I mean, I never thought of doing a [personal profile] charlottelennox and investigating and describing anything. But Hey, yes, I was there - since 1980. So I'll have a look and see if I can help with anything. And thanks for your confidence.

I'm not looking for big time exposition. (Though heh. I've been playing with the general topic since 1999 or so. And I'm planning to do a dissertation on this topic.) I'm mostly kind of fishing for details that can give an idea as to what was happening and where. There are things that get mentioned, like Mary Sue, and people seem to think it is shiny and new... and it isn't that new. The name was coined in 1973. It's been present a long time in stories. Definitions have changed over time but looking at parts of it, not much in the percentage. The kerfluffles have happened repeatedly. There was the Star Wars stuff, the Star Trek stuff, the Blake's 7 stuff. A lot of the Msscribe thing I think came out of the lack of knowledge about these other fannish events because they didn't have the cross over impact and people didn't always talk about them.

So any sort of information to fill in any blanks would be much obliged, from biographis of major fen (http://www.fanhistory.com/index.php?title=Cassandra_Claire) to minor fans (http://www.fanhistory.com/index.php?title=Judith_Low), from bookfic kerfluffles (http://www.fanhistory.com/index.php?title=Anne_Rice_%28Fandom%29) to moviefic kerfluffles (http://www.fanhistory.com/index.php?title=Star_Wars_fanzine_kerfluffle). :) And well, pretty much anything in between (http://www.fanhistory.com/index.php?title=July).

So yeah, anything would be helpful. :)
