They are purely decorative - The Silver Angel (that is her name) flies by focusing a powerful blast of energy through her feet. They are held together by a simple golden circlet which also holds an oval emerald in the middle of her forehead, and the only function they fulfil is to keep her hair from her face during battle.

Thank you. I saw a few dragons drawn with clawed hands rather than paws and it seemed to me that they were scarier, and probably more efficient.
