Swine

The husband of a friend of mine has asked for a divorce just as she is beginning to cope with a long-term illness. I say, what part of "for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, till death do us part" did he not understand?

This sort of thing makes me understand why "traditore" and "vigliacco" ("traitor" and "coward") have long been the two worst insults in the Italian language.

Of course, this sort of thing always happens on the week-end

After several years of untroubled service, yahoo refuses to acknowledge my password. I have gone through the procedure for lost or forgotten passwords twice, to no purpose at all. As of this morning, I have no access to my main e-mail account.

Considering how this morning has been so far, I am tempted to go right back into bed and pull the blankets over me.

ON a lighter note...

...this is the final of speechless anthems. The Spanish national anthem, the Grenadiers' March, has no words (and I heard the Spanish fans singing along without words, oh-oh, oh-oh, oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh, etc.); the first stanza of the German national anthem is connected with some rather nasty past notions and is usually regarded as forbidden. Still, the fans sang the second stanza lustily enough.
