Following up on yesterday's post

Maybe I should start a feature called Freak Shows. Of course Tom Cruise is not as bad as Michael Jackson, but I do not like him, I suspect that he is a very thorough hypocrite, and I suspect that "Katie" Holmes is doing something best described as one-man prostitution. And they are both shills for the most vicious and damaging cult in the world. One way or another, I wish these people would not seek or get publicity. Instead of which, they are getting it all over every channel; and, alas, my own country - which, God knows, does not need a couple of Scientological johnny-come-latelies to make the world notice its beauty and ancientry - is gleefully collaborating with their publicity campaign.

I am so sad about what happened to Katie Holmes. I always heard of what a sweet person she was, she almost missed her first Hollywood audition because she didn't want to let down the people at her High school play. Yet she seems to have completely changed personality for Tom Cruise

No worries, the people avidly watching Tom and Co. won't notice a cathedral or other Roman basilica in the background; those greyish stones do give an ethnic look, but couldn't those demolished houses be rebuilt? It really looks untidy

Oh come on you guys - it's terribly romantic. One of them has probably been dreaming of being carried off by Prince Charming for a Cinderella wedding for a long time. These two will no doubt be married "until the stars fall from the sky." (Can they see the Leonid shower there this year?)

I think I can, at least. The interesting feature is that this is not a church wedding (Cruise could not have one, having a living wife married in a Catholic church) nor a state one, but a Scientology rite. Now it so happens that the Italian state does not recognize the Scientologists as a religious body, does not have a concordat with them and certainly does not recognize their marriage rituals. Hence the couple will not be marrying, legally, at all - which makes the delighted and subservient support of the mayor of Bracciano even more heinous. As for Kate Holmes, God help her when Cruise decides he is over her - or has no more need for her - and tells his lawyers to tell her that their marriage never took place and that she does not have a chance in Hell of proving otherwise in any court. Considering that America is one of the few countries that does recognize Scientology as a religion, why on Earth did Cruise have to go to Italy to wed?
