You couldn't make it up dept.no.59: It could only happen in Italy... well, couldn't it?

The Carabinieri, one of Italy's two nationwide police forces, must be spitting blood. They have the nicer uniforms, the longer history, and the tougher image - and when Italians tell stupid jokes, they tell them about them, not about their rivals. But their rivals, the Italian State Police (PS) have come up with a novelty worth five of that. Ladies and Gentlemen - here is the Italian State Police fashion line!

Except for the first photograph, these all feature serving police agents.

Street Looks. Do you get the feeling that these lads have been seeing a few cop shows too many?

And to remind everyone that this is not a joke - Organized Crime and Mafia motorized squad.

No, it is not altogether a joke. Part of the profits of the new clothing line will go to the families of cops fallen in the struggle against mafia, organized crime and terrorism.

I think the Polizia Statale wins this round.

I may see if I can get one of those CONTRA OMNIA ADVERSA sweatshirts. (Unfilled.)

Hey, if it's worth doing, it's worth doing in style, so kudos to the Italian State Police!

And they have mottoes in Latin. Double kudos. :D

And I'm with [livejournal.com profile] jamesenge in wanting a CONTRA OMNIA ADVERSA shirt. You don't happen to know whether they're selling them online somewhere, do you?

Good for them. I wonder why our cops should wear as if they were living in the North Pole when this is a quasi tropical country... they definitely need these designers' advice.

And the gal wearing the "contra omnia adversa" sweatshirt looks as if she were going to kill with her looks :)

You know, if they would just dress like the Vatican Swiss Guard, they'd have good looking uniforms designed by Michaelangelo.

(OK, I know the Swiss Guards uniforms were not actually designed by Michaelangelo, but you have to admit the Rennaisance look was more splendid than this modern cop show stuff.)

yes, I feel the groovy uniforms too easy to copy.
I like the Swiss guard look ! Now that is hard to mimic

Any civilian in USA has FDNY tee shirt and they are not a Fireman

Must look like cops. Good idea to have "summer weight" light wool uniforms.

OT
