Post a comment (anything will do) and I will:

1. Tell you why I friended you.
2. Associate you with something - fandom, a song, a colour, a photo, a word etc.
3. Tell you something I like about you.
4. Tell you a memory I have of you.
5. Ask something I've always wanted to know about you.
6. Tell you my favorite user pic of yours.

In return, you must post this in your LJ

I comment.

1) You kept turning up in [personal profile] filialucis' comments threads, and sounded interesting. I always figured that good people have good friends, and this time round the theory was confirmed.
2) Your country. Since you yourself make it clear with your user name, I always tend to take you as representative.
3) What's not to like? Humorous, intelligent, widely read, religious, mildly sceptical, civilized, polite... the total contradiction of every negative Hispanic stereotype.
4) I wish there had been a way to meet when you travelled to Europe this year.
5) As much of your background as you are willing to retail.
6) They are all nice, but I just love the cute Linux penguin.

1) I told her something along the same lines... but referring to her and her books :)
2-3) Although I love my country and feel like a real one, I'm far from any stereotype.
4) I still plan to travel to England, so we should have an opportunity.
5) Tough one... I usually shy away from boasting about me :P Anyway, here goes a short summary: born and educated here, in a somehow normal family; having one too many interests (and very diverse too) made it difficult for me to choose a career... I studied engineering, physics, math, computer sciences... but didn't finish any because I lost interest close to graduating; I nevertheless consider myself a musician who happens to work as a translator; I had highs and lows in my life (who didn't?), and moved a total of 12 to 14 times.
6) Took it from an installfest ad; it's probably too tiny to notice, but it is drinking terere.

I already have a similar entry in my journal (http://guarani.livejournal.com/20971.html). I think this would do.

Ok, for this I'll bite ;) Yes, I am egocentric :P

1) I noticed you in a Linguaphiles thread, and you came across as nice and rather boldly Catholic. So I asked if I could friend you.
2) Beautiful Benedictine cloisters with well-cultivated, well-watered gardens.
3) I'll tell you the only thing I dislike: YOU ARE NOT ONLINE ANYTHING LIKE ENOUGH!!!
(P.S.: Egocentric??? YOU?!?! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH,......)
4) When I replied to something wonderful you had said with something like, "may I marry you", and in response to that it turned out that you were considering marrying Someone a bit above my reach.
5) Pretty much the same as I asked [personal profile] guarani above: as much of your background as you care to give.
6) I hesitate between the cloister and the two crucifix ones.

*giggle* Oh, I remember that! Why are all the men who'd like to marry me always in a different country than the one I'm currently in? ;)

I'm going to try and be on LJ more. Can't say it'll be a NYR (I already have four, and they're biggies), but I'll try :)

1. Tell you why I friended you.
I don't actually remember. You are an old and faithful friend as Internet friendships go. And if I had known, that is one very good reason why I should have friended you.
2. Associate you with something - fandom, a song, a colour, a photo, a word etc.
Boston as a city of culture and interesting life.
3. Tell you something I like about you.
Your rugged honesty.
4. Tell you a memory I have of you.
Early in our friendship, you gave me an account of a possible trip through Boston we might take, which left me with an itch to visit the city with you as a guide.
5. Ask something I've always wanted to know about you.
Could you let me know privately how that matter we discussed a while back panned out?
6. Tell you my favorite user pic of yours
The Wikiclicki one is so typical of you it's crazy.

Nothing I can't say publically. Your advice was spot on, but in retrospect I wish I had been stronger and kept it my secret. (I can't keep secrets, but I wish I could.) No awful suprises - nothing I didn't expect. We decided to tell the children if they ask. They don't ask. But the future is prodding me to run a half marathon in 2009 with the girls, and get those professional designations and degrees before I'm too old and tired to bother. At the rate I'm getting healthy, I'll outlive my husband.

That is because you know you will be showered with compliments, you little flirt you!
1. Tell you why I friended you.
I came across you in [personal profile] kikei's LJ, and decided that good people must have good friends. I was not disappointed.
2. Associate you with something - fandom, a song, a colour, a photo, a word etc.
Song in general. Although you are not a musician, I cannot help thinking of you in terms of music.
3. Tell you something I like about you.
You have charm, honesty and love of learning and beauty - not altogether a common combination.
4. Tell you a memory I have of you.
The photos of your trip to Rome.
5. Ask something I've always wanted to know about you.
I know quite a few things about you, actually. Just tell me anything interesting or funny.
6. Tell you my favorite user pic of yours
The current one is cute!

*chuckle* That is true! And thank you for the compliments :)

Anything interesting or funny... hmm... well, this may be one, the other or both!

When I was 6 years old, my mother came home from my school's parents evening. Obviously when you're six you've only been in school for around a year. I didn't really know or care at the time what was said, being so young.
What I found out much later was that my mother had come in and said to her mother in an incredulous voice, "She's correcting the teacher's spelling! And not even discreetly - she's just putting up her hand and saying, 'Miss, you've spelt that wrong!' And she's done it more than once!"

I've never quite lived that down!

Well....I'm curious to know why on earth you accepted my friends request.

Heck, why not? The mere rarity value of having a friend who is a female naval person stationed in the Empire of the Rising Sun was enough to make me curious. And you proved nice and interesting to know. I cannot really do the meme about you, since I would have to go back over dozens of my own posts. But you are much nicer than your rather nervous self-introduction suggests - I suspect that that is just the result of having to cope with one too many aggressive persons with opposing viewpoints.

Happy New Year, by the way!
