You couldn't make it up dept. no.72: surely this is a world record?

In 1816, the village authorities of San Giovanni Gemini, near Agrigento, Sicily, sued an important local landowning family and some of their associates for defrauding them over the sale of a considerable amount of public land. The lawsuit is still running.

That's just like the lawsuit in that Dickens book Bleak House! I would love to know more about this, if you have any links available. If not, no biggie.

Actually, it's worse: Jarndyce vs. Jarndyce had "only" run for about fifty years. I am afraid the reference I have is in Italian, sorry.
