DDT

Be sure to read the reply to the article. As always, there are two sides to any argument. DDT is not used in many African countries because it is not used in first world countries. I have been in areas that malaria was present, but by God's grace did not get infected. Then too, I was the only one of the Peace Corp volunteers in Afghanistan that did not get Amoebic dysentery while in country. There has been a lot of research that shows many of the "effects" of DDT that Ms Carson gave could well have had other causes. Eagles were under stress from encroachment by humans on their territory is a serious cause of egg thinning. Do not get me wrong, DDT, like all technologies, if abused, will cause problems as great as or greater than the problem it is meant to solve. (Ethanol anyone?)
On a slightly different note, I have never thought that Nazism or Fascism were left wing movements. I have read enough history to know that much. And I have not read, much less studied, all that much history.

The article is not actually anti-DDT, although it points out that because of overuse it has become less effective because mosquitoes have built up resistance. It underlines that DDT is permitted for malaria eradication.

On another note, thank you and thank God for commonsense.
