Again about that Smirnoff ad

A few weeks ago, I caused a stir by posting a magnificent Smirnoff ad on the theme of "the sea giving up its dead", with an extraordinary soundtrack. [livejournal.com profile] sartorias posted it on her LJ in turn, blowing even more people away. Well, a complete version of the soundtrack by Peter Raeburn has been posted on Youtube, and it is even better. This is someone who moves in the classical idiom as though it were his native home, as though Schoenberg and Shostakovich had never happened; listen, in particular, to the beautiful instrumental central section, with piano, omitted from the ad.

Peter Raeburn. Remember that name. It means something, over and above vodka.

That is lovely, but the sound quality is horrible. I wish someone would get the smarts to release this guy's music commercially!

Nice! I searched for him on Amazon and iTunes, but alas, there's nothing on offer under his name in either location (that I can find, anyway)

"Celebrare" is a released album, though (the image in the YouTube video is the album cover). It has the original track plus a number of remixes by other artists in various styles. Sadly I have no clue where to purchase it.

Mr. Rayburn is evidently something of a name in the advertising industry, but as far as I can tell he has no web or commercial presence of his own. It's a serious shame. :/

I admit I was amazed and enraptured by the soundtrack and the visuals in the commercial. (And I don't even drink!) Thank you for finding and sharing it.
