Michael Chrichton, one of the few people who have genuinely been willing to take unpopular positions out of reason and conscience, has died on this historic day. Do you see a connection? I feel, at least, that the grimness and sadness of this day have been compounded. May a brave man sleep the sleep of the brave, "and flights of angels sing thee to thy rest"!

I put it the way I feel. And included a question. We are facing a grim and dangerous future, and my own circumstances are very bad. I hate the Oprah Winfrey spirit in which America has made its choice, and the loss of an honest man seems to fit in exactly.

Speaking of Oprah, did you see her in the crowd when Obama was giving his speech?

Blech. I could have done without the constant panning to images or her and Jesse Jackson, etc. in the crowd.

Very VERY sad about Michael Crichton. I loved his work.

Yes, because the presence of TV billiosquillionaires and establishment activists (did nobody remember that Jackson had said he wanted to castrate Obama?) means that disadvantaged black citizens will from henceforth feel equal and not carry a chip on their shoulder, of course.
