One thing that annoys me is that I keep getting gay porn spam, and no other kind. If they really do want to send me porn spam, they might at least mail something closer to my tastes...

All too familiar, though I eventually got enough spam filtering that at this point I don't really notice what sort of spam I get these days.

I'm not sure what to suggest for filtering spam with Yahoo!, though. If you don't mind emails potentially being saved on your local computer (rather than being left on the server), Thunderbird with the webmail extension installed might be a good option for you. Thunderbird has reasonably good spam filtering built in, though at first it must be trained to recognize spam (that article is written with Netscape 7.1 in mind, but Thunderbird works very similarly).

Mmph. My email addy unmistakably reflects my gender... and yet all the spam I get (except for odd spates of ads for replica watches) is for the latest miracle methods to enhance an item of anatomy I do not in fact possess.

My advice: Get a Gmail addy. Their spam filtering algorithm is nothing short of stupendous; the only reason I notice my spam at all is because I check the spam folder every so often to make sure no legitimate message was misdirected there (which, in any case, almost never happens).

Actually, it is always in the spam folder in my yahoo account as well. I only check because every now and then some legitimate mail ends up there. That is also why I am vaguely annoyed instead of furious. Yahoo's anti-spam is quite good, really.
