Today's documentary on BBC 2, called Did Darwin kill God?, is not just right, it is exceptionally well-thought out and shows a complete mastery of the issues. I cannot praise it too much and I hope to find an online copy.

I'd say no. And I speak as an atheist.

I see no contradiction between a belief in God and a belief that evolution operates. Why should an omnipotent, omnisiceint God limit himself to mechanisms like simple one-off creation to form his universe?

What evolution did do was to make atheism rational. Until there was a possible explanation, other than as a reflection of the mind of God, for the wonder that is the human mind, then I can see how atheism was a more difficult position to hold.

I find the whole topic of evolution rather interesting. Vile as it may be, I thought the show South Park brought up a good point in the rhetoric (paraphrased by memory): "Why can't evolution be the answer to how, not why?" This doesn't really gel with the idea of the beginning of creation starting with Eden, but I have difficulty with that in any case as a person interested in studying the evolution of human consciousness. I would love to hear your specific/elaborated opinion.
