(no subject)

I created a sub-group of friends dedicated only to posts to people who can accept my Catholic viewpoints. If you doubt whether you are in this group, and wish to see all my posts, do ask; but bear in mind that you may be offended. Persons, for instance, who believe in such things as "gay rights" might find the atmosphere unwelcoming.

I hardly ever agree 100%, but I like the way you think more than ever.

You already are.

A doubt.

I'm not sure I understand clearly. Is it that in the future your posts containing Catholic viewpoints won't be visible to just anyone but only to those who are in this group?

I'm a 22 year old Catholic from India, and I've been a reader of your LJ for the past two years. (I don't have an LJ myself. I just signed on her to respond to others' writings.) I've even spent time going back to your archives and reading your older posts. I thank you for your various regular writings which have helped me very much in becoming a better Catholic.

Since I have not been a regular responder to your writings and have had almost no interaction with you so far, I cannot of course lay claim to your friendship yet. But I would be very glad and grateful to be able to continue to read your Catholic-themed writings. So please do add me to this group if that is a requirement to be able to read your Catholic posts.

- Innocent.

I've friended you and placed you in the Catholics group. It has to do with writing an item, yesterday, about slash, which I knew would have both offended the friend it was about and probably started a flamewar in her comments page OR in mine.

Thanks.

Thanks for adding me!

I'm easily offended but good at keeping my mouth shut ;) Except when it comes to Bill Maher. He's just such an arrogant ass.

And I need to share the offense. This is just, wrong, on so many levels:

I came across that link on [profile] johncwright's lj, and found it hilarious in its complete intellectual incompetence. It really shows that the authors are incapable of understanding anything beyond their ridiculous, provincial frames of reference.

That, incidentally, is what I also despise about 95% of slash fics.

I think you know where I stand, and you also know that I rarely am offended, and if I don't agree (which is often), I keep my mouth shut. I am very interested in all sorts of points of view, that's one of the reasons I keep reading your journal. In other words, at your discretion :-)

I would be honored to be added to this group as well.
After a few days of rampant ignorance on the part of some friends in San Fransisco, I need to get a foul taste out of my mind.

[identity profile] fpb.livejournal.com 2009-04-05 08:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Believe it or not, you weren't on my f-list yet. You have now been added and included.

[identity profile] fpb.livejournal.com 2009-04-05 08:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Your choice. But if you find it too hard going, please remember that I will always leave you the alternative to move out of the Credenti group rather than defriend me altogether.

Very much appreciated.

Please count me in. I enjoy intelligent reading and don't get enough of it on LJ.

[identity profile] fpb.livejournal.com 2009-04-05 08:49 pm (UTC)(link)
You were in the "of course" list.

[identity profile] sevenorora.livejournal.com 2009-04-04 11:34 pm (UTC)(link)
You know me :-)

[identity profile] fpb.livejournal.com 2009-04-05 08:49 pm (UTC)(link)
And I am honoured to.

[identity profile] hobsonphile.livejournal.com 2009-04-04 11:44 pm (UTC)(link)
I hope I'm on that list despite the recent fight; I desperately need to read some Orthodox Catholicism right now.

[identity profile] fpb.livejournal.com 2009-04-05 08:46 pm (UTC)(link)
I hope to please.

[identity profile] sanscouronne.livejournal.com 2009-04-05 12:40 am (UTC)(link)
You know that I am of the more conservative Catholic persuasion, and am not easily offended, and I really do miss your controversial, yet very insightful posts.

[identity profile] fpb.livejournal.com 2009-04-05 08:48 pm (UTC)(link)
You were in from the start, of course - although I still am trying to wrap my feeble brain around the concept of a conservative Catholic fashion model. "There are more things in Heaven and Earth, Horatio..." 8-)

[identity profile] sanscouronne.livejournal.com 2009-04-05 08:57 pm (UTC)(link)
I think you and I both know that this is not an accurate description...given my dubious success at both of these ventures, there is much ambiguity surrounding both how truly applicable this title is. :)

Though I think you are right in general. I have not yet met any models that are conservative by any stretch of the imagination, though perhaps a few may identify as Catholic.

[identity profile] dispergo.livejournal.com 2009-04-09 07:43 pm (UTC)(link)
I'll be honest here--I'm usually too intimidated to ever comment on your LJ posts, for fear of sounding silly or ignorant. But I really do learn a lot from reading them, and I'd hate to forsake even a small portion of that, so I'd very much like to be added to the filter if that's okay with you. :)

[identity profile] fpb.livejournal.com 2009-04-09 08:13 pm (UTC)(link)
I probably won't use the group anyway, seeing what a disaster followed the mere announcement. It produced the exact opposite effect of what I wanted. But I will put you in anyway. And do please comment. Do not be intimidated. Nobody who talks from experience ever sounds silly.

[identity profile] dispergo.livejournal.com 2009-04-09 08:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you! I will certainly try!
