More an enemy because he is ridiculous, rather than ridiculous because he's an enemy. If the Gospel actually *had* an intelligent, thoughtful enemy, that person would probably serve as a useful Devil's Advocate, pointing out things we are taking for granted, clearing out confusions and forcing us to look hard at the painful aspects of Our Lord's teachings. In short, helping us to serve the God of Truth.
