If I were Obama, I'd have turned it down. Woodrow Wilson won it in 1919; 'nuff said.

When my husband told me this morning, I thought it was a joke.

I know Swedes better than you do. Alas, it was not. But then, a price for peace ought never to have been invented - it is an invitation to everything that is fake, sentimental and superficial in human nature.

Most people are laughing. But since I regard Woodrow Wilson as the worst US President of all time, and the foremost culprit for the rise of Fascism and World War Two, this not really even so funny as all that.

It looks like the NPP committee* is bought and paid for, just like most other elite circles! I hang my head in shame for our world.

Nice catch with President Wilson. My own thought was that if optimism was a substantial contribution to world peace, then we never would have had World War I.

I for one am seriously wondering what made them choose him. He first couldn't believe it himself.

Obviously, that he was not George W.Bush. The whole narrative of the last several Nobel Peace Prizes is that there is only one enemy of peace, that is the American Right, and anyone who is against them is on the side of peace. Hence the awards to Carter and Gore, to Mohammed El-Baradei, even to Shireen Elbadi - not that I disapprove of that, but the point in giving it to her is obviously that Iran cannot be so bad a place if someone like her can live and work there. This was a pat on the head of the American nation for having finally achieved the state of enlightenment of the Norwegian Parliament and having elected someone that Norwegian MPs like. Need I add that I am certain it will backfire?
