Christmas Wishes meme
It's that time of year again! I'm not flush this season, but hey, we are all in fandom, so I shall be trawling all your lists to see if there is anything I can fulfill anyway. :)

Step One

Make a post (public, friendslocked, filtered...whatever you're comfortable with) to your LJ. The post should contain your list of 10 holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fandom-related ("I'd love a custom-made icon that's just for me") to medium ("I wish for _____ on DVD") to really big ("All I want for Christmas is a new car/computer/house/TV.") The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.

If you wish for real life things (not fics or icons), make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) could get in touch with you.
Also, make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your LJ so that the holiday joy will spread.

Step Two

Surf around your friendslist (or friends' friends, or just random journals) to see who has posted their list. And now here's the important part:

If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes someone's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use--or even know where you could get someone's dream purebred Basset Hound for free--do it.
* You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf--to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not--it's your call.
* There are no rules with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Just...wish, and it might come true. Give, and you might receive. And you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.

OK, this is what I would like to have. Fundamental rule: for all the books and comics, I don't have to have paper - electronic scans and e-book copies will do great. EDITED IN: or links to appropriate sites, if they exist.

1) Bill Willingham's PANTHEON.
2) Anything by Carla Speed McNeill, especially FINDER
3) Ssuma Chien's history - in a language I can read, obviously. (These include English, Franch, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, German and Latin. BUT NOT MANDARIN!!!)
4) The Romance of the Three Kingdoms. Same provisions apply
5) Pliny the Elder's Natural History, or any part thereof.
6) Strabo's Geography, or any part thereof
7) The Ocean Of Story - Indian classic - again, in translation.
8) Jack Katz's THE FIRST KINGDOM, and recent comics that you think are really good, including links to web-comics
9) Here is the toughie. I am privileged to have some of the finest fanfic writers around in my f-list. So, if you are reading, [livejournal.com profile] kennahijja, [livejournal.com profile] inverarity68, [livejournal.com profile] lazy_neutrino, [livejournal.com profile] chthonya, and the rest, I would like a fanfic featuring at least one or two of my own characters and done to some extent to my specifications. Not dictating an approach, of course, but I would like to see really good writers dealing with my stuff.
10) Ditto artists.

#6: I have to assume you are familiar with this

and aren't very happy with the translation?

I was not aware it existed. Thank you. I should have added, or links if any exist. Mind you, Lacus Curtius uses a most uncomfortable layout that makes it hard to use the text as a work base; because the chapter and verse numbers are not part of the text but inserted separately, you have to first copy the text to Word or something similar before you insert all the numbers, and only then begin to comment it.

I also think they link to the original somewhere.

I can recommend the Moss Roberts translation of RoTK--under the name "Three Kingdoms: A Historical Novel".

When I read it, I kept a notebook where I jotted down notes on what character was who and what page they were introduced.

Also I said a chaplet of Divine Mercy for you.

Blessed Advent :3
