The best story I ever wrote

I haven't had the time to post anything substantial of late. So I thought I might at least let you read what I still think is the finest story I have written. If this is not good, I shall never write anything good.

I absolutely love this. I don't know that I can fully explain what I loved about it, except that it captures the spirit that I most loved in the old myths when I was little, and half convinced that they were all true.
