That is the lovely Aishwarya Rai of India (though I think she has a new last name, since she married.) She happens to be my husband's favorite actress. (If you have not seen the Bollywood movie Devdas, I strongly recommend it...in particular the musical scenes.)

I chose this particular picture because her attitude and expression seemed appropriate to my character. ;-)

I think she competed for (or won? not sure) Miss Universe or something, so she's one of the most beautiful women in the world. A lovely dancer, too.

after a quick wikipedia hunt, she won miss india, miss world, has a tulip named after her, appeared in quite a few films, is the face of l'oreal and there's a waxwork model of her in mme tussaud's in london (which i might have been tempted to steal, last time i was there;-) ). like all attractive women, she's not without faults: she's been accused of tax evasion and did quite a character assassination on a former boyfriend... alledgedly.

tbh honest, i'll listen to music from many places... not india though, and i can barely sit through calamity jane or the sound of music without wanting to string myself up - and they've got two of the best female voices ever imo. as you might imagine, bollywood isn't really to my taste. thanks for the pointer though:-)
