Snippets will be 100-500 words, unless they're not.

4. Keep to DCU, Marvel, BSG Voyager, Buffy, classic comi characters, or Harry Potter, since I'm no good with much of anything else.

OMG, you would pick one DC character I know nothing about.

Nobody knows much about Aquaman; that allows great scope of imagination.
(Although I did like the way he was "introduced" in the Smallville version).
