Personally, I care little about privacy on the net, and even if I did, I think that mine is past praying for. However, a recent incident showed me, to my regret, that some people do and find it difficult or painful to be, for instance, exposed to correspondence from social contact sites.

If any of you feel like that, please let me know and I will take all necessary measures to protect your privacy.

I keep my fannish ID separate from my online ID, and even have two Twitter feeds, neither much updated, one in my real name, and the other as Shezanissima. I am pretty careful on what I post on Facebook, i.e. nothing that goes up there couldn't be shown to a prospective boss or colleague. (Nonetheless, I do not friend current colleagues at the place which pays me monthly, and my public ID is as closed as can be and still show I exist.) It's very easy for an outsider (or prospective employer) to fathom my political slant from my online existence; less so my fan-and-LJ activities. I'm not particularly nervous about it; it just seems healthy to keep things separate and a number of my good friends are aware of both, being themselves interested in the fan world (and my LJ is unsearchable by bots.) But I've always felt I was the one responsible for the stuff I put up, so anything I post somewhere unlocked can be quoted, as long as it's quoted using the identity under which it was written...
