Personally, I care little about privacy on the net, and even if I did, I think that mine is past praying for. However, a recent incident showed me, to my regret, that some people do and find it difficult or painful to be, for instance, exposed to correspondence from social contact sites.

If any of you feel like that, please let me know and I will take all necessary measures to protect your privacy.

There was a point of time when I obsessed over privacy to the extent that people only knew me by HJ/HJG online. I think I've definitely become more comfortable talking to strangers/people I've met through various internet sites/fandoms, but I'm still the hesitant kind. That's probably why all my LJ posts are locked. Not because I am afraid that someone I know will chance upon my entries, but because someone I don't know might, at some point of time, use it against me. I really don't dissociate my fandom identity from my RL identity. My entire class probably knows that I have written Harry Potter fanfic and that I'm a total addict(Even my teachers are HP addicts! I do not kid; our intra-collegiate quiz finals have a specific HP category in the subject-of-choice round). My LJ flist probably knows all about my RL life, with the exception of my friends' actual names, too. I just kind of feel that it's safer to keep posts locked, though. It kind of gives me a sense of security. =)
