The last word

Giving life to a child is an act of love. You don't do it because you want something from the baby, or because you want to do something to it or with it. You do it because you want a baby to exist.

Ideally. I am not sure it always applies. :,

I am talking about ultimates, or universals if you prefer. You can have a child because you are a paedophile (even a paedophile couple, and I know this to have happened), but it only comes under the heading of the exception that tests the rule.
P.S.: This is my last word on an unpleasant controversy - that attracted a couple of really detestable Catholic haters - that took place while you were otherwise engaged. (And missed.)

Ah! Sooth. I understand. Yes, I agree: that is certainly why I had mine, though I didn't think it intellectually, but in my heart. To give another person a chance to experience this amazing, terrifying, heart-breaking and astonishing existence.

I don't know what prompted this, but I agree utterly.

Should you actually want to know...

...the polemic that caused it started here: http://inverarity.livejournal.com/45753.html , and continued here: http://fpb.livejournal.com/497677.html . It is not a very pleasant read, actually: I found myself beating against a stone wall, and eventually the opponents said things I regard as unforgivable.
