Is this spam?

I have received what is by any standard a strange response to a post. This is it:

Subject: provides access
I just cant stop reading this. Its so cool, so full of information that I just didnt know. Im glad to see that people are actually writing about this issue in such a smart way, showing us all different sides to it. Youre a great blogger. Please keep it up. I cant wait to read whats next.

This would flatter me, were it not that it is posted as a response to this entry: http://fpb.livejournal.com/527816.html - in which I say practically nothing, preferring to let Beethoven speak for himself. As a response, it does not make sense; and as I read it, I have a suspicion that it might have been written on purpose to be applicable to the largest possible amount of possible entries. It is, in effect, generic flattery. And the author has not seen fit to to place any clue to his or her identity. So, is this spam? Or has anyone else received a similar note?

Yes, it's spam. I've gotten similar comments (with the same "provides access" subject line). They're all very generic and if you look at the HTML source, there are embedded porn links.

Thank you. I've just got another, much more obvious and even more unlikely. Someone does seem to be working his servers to death.

I got one. Which, all by itself, should convince you that you've got a spambot operating here: such flattering comments really don't fit with the ordinary stuff I write.

Yes. I've deleted four such "comments" from various entries of mine in the last week. Two very obvious since they included a link to a website for Russian brides.

Well, at least the one you received was in English. I had one on a WC-football post in what I think was Russian :-)
