I would welcome comments from any one of the many English popular musicians, every single one of them from a comfortable middle-class background, who have spent the last fifty-five years at least revelling in images of street riots:
Random but vaguely related - I've noticed for the first time that the Kaiser Chief's "I predict a riot" has most of the song in minor key, but the actual lines "I predict a riot" go into major. Since minor tends to be connected with sadness and major with happiness - the song actually musically implies that a riot is a good thing.
This may be a total coincidence, but I'm now fascinated...
That is also apparently the attitude of the Stones in Street Fighting Man. They actually complain that in sleepy London town there is no space for a street fighting man.
